The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) plays an important role in supporting the
work of the EU and the Member States in the area of equality between women and men
A major task since EIGE became operational (2011) has been the development of a gender equality index, referred to in the European Commission’s Strategy for Equality between Women and Men 2010−2015. The day has come to officially present EIGE’s Gender Equality Index to the European Commission, the Council, the European Parliament and other relevant stakeholders during an official launch in Brussels
